2012 Tree Planting Project

It is that time of year again, when we locate areas of the golf course where the addition of trees will help aid in the aesthetics and playability of the golf course. We have located an area of the golf course that needed some improvement in the landscape and have decided to install a combination of deciduous and evergreen trees to help protect the clubhouse from errant golf shots as well as improve the view of the golf course from the clubhouse and patio areas.

The trees we selected to install are Oklahoma proven trees that have a very good chance of establishment and survival. We selected Loblolly Pines, Shumardi Oaks, Crape Myrtles, Chaste Trees and Deodar Cedars.  The Loblolly Pines were quite large for B&B trees and some extra help and equipment was needed to place these large specimen trees!

We will now spend the remaining part of winter and this upcoming spring providing them with the care needed to ensure that they establish correctly to make it thru an Oklahoma summer. By close observation and correct care and maintenance, it will give them the greatest chance of survival. If anyone has any questions regarding tree selection, installation and care please feel free to contact the OSU Extension Agency or myself, as we would be glad to answer any questions that you may have on the subject.

As always any questions, comments or concerns are always appreciated.

We'll see you out there!
